What Postmark is for

Postmark sends the emails your app fires on its own (login codes, password resets, receipts) and its whole pitch is getting them to the inbox in seconds. It keeps these transactional emails apart from newsletters, in separate streams, so a bad campaign doesn't drag your login codes into spam.

How it plugs into your product

  1. 1Sign up with a company email (not Gmail) and add your sending domain with the DNS records Postmark shows.
  2. 2Request account approval: a person reviews it, usually in under 24 hours on weekdays. Until then you can only send to your own verified domains.
  3. 3Create a server token, keep it on your backend and send through the API or SMTP.
  4. 4Add a webhook for bounces so your app stops emailing dead addresses.

Does it fit your idea?

It fits if

  • A SaaS where a login code stuck in spam means a lost sign-up, like passwordless login or two-factor codes.
  • A B2B product sending 10,000 to 50,000 transactional emails a month that values support and delivery logs.
  • You want product updates and transactional email in one account but kept on separate streams.

Look elsewhere if

  • You are still testing the idea: the free plan is only 100 emails a month.
  • You send hundreds of thousands of emails a month on a tight budget: Amazon SES or Resend cost less.
  • You want to email cold or purchased lists: Postmark reviews accounts by hand to keep that out.

What it costs in practice

A SaaS sending 30,000 emails a month on Basic: $15 for the first 10,000 + 20 × $1.80 = about $51/month. Rough estimate; at 50,000 the next tier is $55.
