What Auth0 is for
Auth0, owned by Okta, runs the login of your app for you: sign-up, passwords, Google sign-in, two-step verification and, for business customers, signing in with the company's own account (SSO). Its strength is the checklist big companies send before buying: SSO, audit logs and security certifications. You plug it into your app, and users log in on a page Auth0 hosts.
How it plugs into your product
- 1Create a tenant at auth0.com and register your app (web, mobile or API).
- 2Install the Auth0 SDK and send users to the hosted login page (Universal Login).
- 3On your server, check the token Auth0 returns before showing each user's data.
- 4Before launch, connect your own email provider and, if you want, a custom domain (card verification required).
Does it fit your idea?
It fits if
- A B2B SaaS selling to banks or large companies that will demand SSO and audit logs in the contract.
- A product that stays under 25k monthly active users and only needs basic login: the free plan covers it.
- A team that already uses Okta and wants the same vendor for customer login.
Look elsewhere if
- A consumer app that may need paid features early: a few thousand users already cost hundreds of dollars a month.
- A low-ticket B2B SaaS: B2B Essentials starts at $150/month for 500 users.
- You want ready-made sign-in components inside your own React pages instead of a redirect to a hosted page.

Leaving the free plan is a big jump: B2C Essentials is $70/month for 1,000 users and $175 for 2,500; B2B Essentials is $300 for 1,000.

What it costs in practice
A SaaS with 2,000 monthly active users fits in the free plan: $0. If it needs a paid feature, B2C Essentials bills by tier, so 2,000 users fall in the 2,500 tier: $175/month, or $1,925 a year paid upfront (estimate, in dollars).
